Location: Livingston Job Type: Apprenticeship What you need to know: Closes 16/01/26 This role reports to the QC Manager and provides hands-on support with general quality control laboratory tasks and material management. We are a highly regulated pharmaceutical environment, so attention to detail, accurate documentation, and clear written communication are essential. You will also need a good understanding of what it means to work safely in a laboratory setting. Our work is governed by strict standards (cGMP, FDA, MHRA), ensuring medicines are safe and effective. Every step you take helps maintain these standards, so precision and responsibility are key. What will I learn? • Conduct and support routine housekeeping duties • Conduct Sampling in accordance with relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) • Consumable and reagent ordering and stock checking • Receipt, status labelling and inspection of raw materials • Perform quality checks on incoming packaging components and retain samples • Perform quality checks (appearance and leaks) on bulk and packed products • Conduct sample and reagent preparation to support analysts as required • Release testing of primary and secondary packaging raw materials • Perform Visual Inspections of equipment for cleaning verification • Perform cleaning verification by HPLC within cleanrooms where trained • Perform basic calibrations where trained What qualifications or qualities are required? Person Profile: Apprentice Lab Technician The ideal candidate will be: • Composed; cool under pressure and energised by challenges • Has demonstrable integrity and trust; can present the facts in an appropriate and helpful manner; keeps confidences and admits mistakes • Makes good decisions based on analysis, wisdom, experience and judgement • Accomplished at setting priorities; Specific Job Skills: Required: • Willing to study for relevant qualification • Able to communicate well via written media with specific emphasis on report writing • Able to work with minimal supervision • High attention to detail • Must have a keen interest in Life Sciences/Pharma industries Computer skills: Must be competent in the use of MS Office, particularly Excel and Word, e-mail and internet; Literacy and Numeracy: Must have excellent communication skills particularly, written English and interpretation and Maths.
