These are the same courses that staff will do and range from courses such as First Aid, Fire Safety, Disability awareness and Data Protection which should give them some knowledge before they start their role about our company. We will also ensure that we give coaching sessions regularly by the team leader/ service manager in order to help them with anything they are struggling with or wish to develop. During these sessions we will help them with any employability support such as preparing them for interviews or helping them add experience from the placement to their CV. We will also offer classroom training which staff will get to attend as well as this will build upon their skills in the care sector and for their next steps.
We will also ensure that the support workers are shadowing other support workers when they start as this will ensure that they get to see good practice and it gives them some time to settle in as well. Support will be offered all the way through the placement but at the beginning it will be provided to help them be able to succeed in their new role and nearer the end we will look at supporting them to get a new job/next steps.
The young person will be able to take part in meetings with various other individuals in the business and this will help them also develop their skills.
