Why our Apprentice Manufacturing Engineer (ME) Program
Our Apprentice ME program has been designed so that the successful applicant will complete a modern apprenticeship and go on to gain a degree in engineering. You will work alongside time served employee’s learning key skills on the manufacturing shop floor machine line and, develop engineering drawing skills with experienced design, automation and manufacturing engineers.
As an Apprentice (ME), you will attend college 5 days per week in your first year.
You will attend West Lothian College for the initial few years while you complete the required NC qualifications, going on to Napier University to complete the engineering degree.
Due to the nature of where the college is located and where our site is in Livingston, you will ideally have your own transport or use of public transport when commuting when term starts.
What will I learn?While at College
•Attend college 5 days per week at the times associated with the qualification and agreed by tutors and managers
•Complete the required work associated with module assessments in a timely manner, raising issues early when not meeting required deadlines
While at Work
•Work with time served colleagues on how to safely set and operate shop floor machinery
•Accurately measuring and working to the product specification tolerances
•Develop machine line skills using the press break, saw and laser cutter
•Ensure work areas kept tidy
•Any other tasks required by Production Team
What qualification or qualities are required?
You’ll have a head start in this vacancy if you’ve completed a Foundation Apprenticeship in a related field. We’ll need you to provide evidence of your qualification and show you gained the relevant skills from your placement
• Hold a minimum of 4 Highers, including Maths and English.
• Strong IT skills when using a variety of Microsoft Packages
• A desire to want a long-term career as a Manufacturing Engineer
• Good communication skills to ultimately liaise with colleagues and tutors
• An interest/understanding of technologies and engineering
In return, you will receive a starting rate dependant on age & qualifications, which is paid on 23rd each month.
1st Stage Recruitment Process

2nd Stage Recruitment Process
After the closing date we will review all applications, selecting those who will progress forward to the 2nd stage which is an Aptitude & Situational Judgement Test.
3rd Stage Recruitment Process
At this stage we will have selected the final candidates for interview. The interview will take place at our Livingston site and involve the hiring managers.
