Career Ready

Picture

Transform a life through mentoring

With a social mobility focus, Career Ready’s employer led programme of mentoring, a paid internship and masterclasses supports young people (across S5 & S6) to identify and focus on their future career, by immersing them in the world of work. Working directly with employers, and in partnership with West Lothian Council, the Career Ready programme gives young people aged 16-18 - who are still in school - role models and networks to ignite their ambitions, and the experience and skills they need to compete with the best in the country.

Pupils are matched to a business mentor who they meet every 4 to 6 weeks, wrapped around a high quality paid internship within the mentor's organisation.

Career Ready supports schools, young people, mentors and employers. The result? Great outcomes for pupils, including a step change in confidence, raised aspirations, and a clear progression path to higher-level study or to join the workforce.   For mentors, as well as a real sense of satisfaction, they develop their skills too, and for employers an easy way to connect in a structured and supported way with local schools and meet with their potential future talent pipeline.

Career Ready can only do what they do with the fantastic support of employers across Scotland and here in West Lothian for our young people.
