Cruden have a measurement-based exercise where we bring along architect drawings of a blockwork substructure, photograph of a substructure for reference, scale rulers, highlighters, and pens. The objective is to identify the different wall types in the found by highlighting them different colours and then measure the quantities of the different type of blockwork using scale rulers. We then apply rates to the quantities to “price” the substructure. We usually break the group into teams for this activity with the goal of who and get the closest to the correct answer. During the activity we explain the purpose of this exercise and how it is used to quantify materials, to price work packages, for ordering materials and for paying trade operative or subcontractors. We also explain the various roles that would use this method, Quantity Surveyor, Estimator, Site Manager, trade Operative etc. Please email below if you would like to book. |
